Abstract:
The background to the risk of biological warfare is examined with particular reference to recent developments in biotechnology and genetic engineering. The provisions of and problems with the Biological Weapons Convention are discussed, with particular reference to verification. The role of doctors and scientists in issues related to research on biological warfare are considered; they should do more to inform the general public and press for appropriate action.
