Bladder volume does not significantly impact stress urinary incontinence (SUI) or Valsalva leak point pressure (VLLP) in women. These findings suggest SUI categorization and VLLP measurements remain consistent regardless of bladder fullness.

Background:

  • Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common condition affecting many women.
  • Understanding factors influencing SUI severity is crucial for effective management.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effect of varying bladder volumes on Valsalva leak point pressure (VLLP) in women with SUI.
  • To determine if bladder volume influences the type or severity of SUI.

Main Methods:

  • Twenty-nine female patients with SUI underwent fluorourodynamic evaluation.
  • Valsalva leak point pressure (VLLP) was measured at 150 ml, 300 ml, and total bladder capacity.
  • Statistical analysis using signed rank and sign tests was performed on VLLP data.

  • No statistically significant differences were observed in VLLP measurements at different bladder volumes.
  • Fluoroscopy revealed no change in the type of SUI based on bladder volume.
