[Exudative pleurisy in children and adolescents]

Among 179 children and adolescents, tuberculous exudative pleurisy was identified in 157 (87.71%), parapneumonic pleurisy in 19 (10.61%), tumoral pleurisy in 2 (1.12%), posttraumatic pleurisy in 1 (0.56%). The histological study of parietal biopsy specimens (n = 103) and the biological test with the specimen (n = 24) provided evidence for pleural tuberculosis in 83.33% of the examined patients with tuberculous pleurisy.
