Abstract:
A sense of humor and an ability to laugh can be therapeutic for both patient and caregiver. It reduces stress, enhances hope, relieves tension, and stimulates the immune system. Review of scientific evidence of laughter's benefits as well as practical suggestions and resources to develop a humor program are presented.
