[The efficacy of repeated laser trabeculoplasy]

Purpose:
The evaluation of the results of repeated laser trabeculoplasty.
Material And Methods:
Retrospective analysis of cases with open angle glaucoma in eyes with uncontrolled intraocular pressure was carried out. The studied group comprised eyes which had shown a significant and prolonged (for at least 12 months) hypotensive response to initial laser trabeculoplasty. 20 patients (26 eyes) were analyzed. The follow-up period lasted from 12 to 59 months.
Results:
91% of eyes demonstrated a sustained and favourable response--intraocular pressure decrease of 5.6 mmHg to 17 mmHg (mean 9.6 mmHg). No significant immediate postoperative pressure increases were observed.
Conclusion:
Our results show the effectiveness of repeated laser trabeculoplasty in the treatment of chosen types of glaucoma.
