[Biomechanics of pulpal and para-pulpal posts. Protection against lateral forces]

The mechanical principles in the use of pulpal and parapulpal posts are discussed by the author with special emphasis on the effect of the lateral component of the masticatory forces. The importance of retention, reduction of tension and better stress distribution are evaluated as well.
