Community outreach--foot care for the elderly: a winning proposition

Foot care is an important aspect of nursing care. One home health agency's journey to incorporate foot care into nursing practice and provide a needed community service is described. Monthly foot care clinics were begun in 6 community senior centers and staffed by home health nurses. A modest fee was charged to cover costs. The nurses learned new skills; clients received care they were unable to perform themselves, and senior centers were able to offer a new program to their members.
