Abstract:
This article provides detailed information on the location of medical practitioners of Costa Rica by rural and urban area and by province, further broken down by medical specialty and place of practice. The data were obtained from a survey made from 1967 through 1975. The authors emphasize the apparent close correlation between the development of health institutions, the characteristics of the health care given the population, and the level of economic development of a country.
