Mechanical inputs related to perception of lower extremity impact loading severity

Human perception of impact severity during running is closely linked to mechanical loading variables. Specifically, the rate of loading (FRA) and peak shank acceleration strongly predict perceived impact severity, even with athletic footwear materials.
