Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Rare Diseases

Background:

  • Keratosis lichenoides chronica (KLC) is an uncommon dermatosis.
  • It presents with a characteristic facial rash resembling seborrheic dermatitis.
  • Violaceous papular and nodular lesions, often in linear or reticulate patterns, affect the trunk and extremities.

Observation:

  • This report details a case of KLC exhibiting the classic clinical features of the disease.
  • The patient's presentation aligned with established descriptions of KLC.

Findings:

  • The patient received treatment with oral isotretinoin.
  • A partial response to oral isotretinoin was observed in this KLC case.

Implications:

  • This case contributes to understanding KLC's clinical spectrum.
  • It suggests a potential, albeit partial, therapeutic role for isotretinoin in managing KLC.
  • Further research may explore optimal treatment strategies for this rare condition.
