Small bowel stenosis from blunt abdominal trauma

Summary

Blunt abdominal trauma can cause segmental small bowel strictures, leading to chronic obstruction weeks later. Barium examination is crucial for preoperative diagnosis of such injuries.

Findings:

The patient had a segmental stricture of the small bowel.
A small bowel barium examination revealed key diagnostic imaging findings.

Implications:

Early identification of traumatic bowel strictures is vital for preventing prolonged obstruction.
