[Combined pathogenetic therapy of epilepsy in experiment]

Combined pathogenetic therapy (CPT) of experimental convulsive syndrome (maximal electroshock) included combined action of the drugs on the basic mechanisms of epileptogenesis by means of increase of the inhibitory GABA-ergic processes and inhibition of neuronal Ca-2+2 and Na(-)+ uptake. It was established that combined usage of certain preparations permitted to decrease considerably their doses and to receive either sufficiently high therapeutic index of the combinations or relatively low potentiation of the toxic effects. The most effective combinations of the drugs were determined. They may be recommended for clinical examination. The results obtained by the authors justify CPT usage for suppression of epileptic activity.
