Summary

A rare skin condition featuring CD34-positive spindle cell tumors is described in an adolescent female. These benign, eruptive fibromas represent a distinct proliferation of dermal dendrocytes.

Background:

  • The spectrum of CD34-positive spindle cell lesions is expanding.
  • CD34 is a transmembrane protein often expressed in hematopoietic stem cells and endothelial cells.

Observation:

  • An 18-year-old female presented with a 6-year history of slowly increasing, asymptomatic tan/brown papules.
  • Histopathology revealed a dermal proliferation of plump spindle cells positive for CD34, with no atypia or mitotic activity.

Findings:

  • Immunohistochemistry excluded S-100, muscle actins, and Factor XIIIa, differentiating the lesion from DFSP and dermatomyofibroma.
  • The observed mesenchymal proliferation was identified as CD34-positive apparent dermal dendrocytes.
