Development of a hospital information system using the TAD method

Objective:
To examine the capability of a new object-oriented method called Tabular Application Development (TAD) in developing a hospital information system for a gastroenterology clinic.
Design:
TAD has five phases. The first phase identifies the problem to be solved. The second phase defines the business processes and activities involved. The third phase develops the object model. The fourth phase designs the application model. The final phase deals with implementation.
Results:
Eight requirements for the system were identified by hospital management; 17 specific tasks were grouped into three activity categories. The process model, the object model, and the application model of the system are described.
Conclusion:
The TAD method is capable of developing such an information system without any problem. Furthermore, the method minimizes the time needed to do this in such a way that the process is completely visible to the analyst.
