Background:

  • Clonorchiasis, caused by *Clonorchis sinensis*, is a significant public health concern in endemic areas.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the diagnostic potential of specific antigens in *C. sinensis* excretory-secretory products (CsE) for detecting human clonorchiasis.
  • To determine the specificity and sensitivity of a 7 kDa antigen in distinguishing active *C. sinensis* infections.

  • Immunoblot analysis was performed using excretory-secretory products from *C. sinensis* (CsE) and sera from patients with clonorchiasis, other parasitic infections, and healthy individuals.

    • This antigen offers reliable specificity in differentiating active clonorchiasis from past infections and co-endemic helminthiasis.
    • Further application of this antigen could improve clonorchiasis diagnosis in endemic regions.
