Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate fasciculation potentials (FPs) in small peripheral muscles of the foot and hand in healthy individuals.
  • To identify factors associated with the presence and frequency of FPs.

Main Methods:

  • Surface electromyography was used to record FPs in the extensor digitorum brevis (EDB), flexor hallucis brevis (FHB), and first dorsal interosseous (FDI) muscles.
  • A questionnaire, including the Hamilton anxiety rating scale, was administered to 122 healthy participants (65 men, 57 women).
