Background:

  • Treadmill testing is a standard method for assessing peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) severity.
  • Routine treadmill testing may not be practical or cost-effective in all clinical settings.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and cross-validate prediction equations for treadmill claudication pain distances in PAOD patients.
  • To compare the accuracy of these prediction equations against patient self-reported distances.

Main Methods:

  • A heterogeneous cohort of 178 PAOD patients for validation and 94 for cross-validation.
  • Collected medical history, vital signs, ankle-brachial systolic pressure index (ABI), and treadmill claudication distances.
