Summary

This study describes a rare case of intraepidermal epithelioma with extensive sebaceous differentiation. This finding expands the understanding of cutaneous neoplasms and their varied differentiation patterns.

Background:

Observation:

  • A solitary nodule within an erythematous plaque in a 65-year-old woman's groin was examined.
  • Histopathology revealed basaloid cells with sebaceous elements and an extensive intraepidermal component of mature sebocytes.

Findings:

  • The case presented as intraepidermal epithelioma with significant sebaceous differentiation and focal invasion.
  • Electron microscopy indicated basaloid cells with pluripotential features.
  • Extensive sebaceous differentiation in this context is a previously undescribed phenomenon.
