Short-chain fatty acids induce cell cycle inhibitors in colonocytes

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) from wheat bran fiber effectively inhibit colon cancer cell growth by inducing cell cycle inhibitors. This effect is not mediated by TGF-beta1, highlighting SCFAs as key protective compounds.
