Summary

Laparoscopic nephrectomy was safely performed on two young girls with kidney conditions. This minimally invasive surgery resulted in quick recovery and discharge for both patients.

Background:

Observation:

  • Two pediatric patients, aged 9 and 3 years, underwent laparoscopic nephrectomy.
  • Indications included a hypoplastic kidney with ectopic ureterocele and a hydronephrotic kidney due to pyeloureteral junction stricture.

Findings:

  • Both procedures were completed successfully with operating times of 153 and 183 minutes.
  • No intraoperative or postoperative complications were observed in either patient.
  • Patients demonstrated rapid recovery, resuming daily activities on postoperative days 2 and 3, and were discharged on day 4.
