Abstract:
For over 30 years polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) has been used in orthopaedic surgery to fix prosthetic components. Two additional uses, relying on the moulding properties previously utilized in dentistry, are described here: the use of PMMA as a bone graft template and as a femoral window plug in total hip replacement.
