Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Clinical Diagnostics

Context:

  • Chronic headache diagnosis relies on semi-structured questionnaires.
  • No validated tools exist for differentiating common chronic headache types.

Purpose:

  • To assess the validity and effectiveness of the ZZA questionnaire.
  • To differentiate between transformed migraine (TM) and chronic tension headache (CTH).

Summary:

  • A 20-question ZZA questionnaire was evaluated in a specialist neurology clinic.
  • Reliability analysis identified ZZA1, ZZA15, and ZZA18 as predictive for TM.
  • The questionnaire was not effective for differential diagnosis between TM and CTH.

Impact:

  • The ZZA questionnaire demonstrated limited utility in differentiating TM from CTH.
