    Summary

    A rare cause of hearing loss, an intrameatal arachnoid cyst, was identified in a child. This is only the second documented case of this rare condition.

    • Intrameatal arachnoid cysts are rare congenital malformations.
    • Perception deafness can have various etiologies, some of which are exceedingly uncommon.

    Observation:

    • A pediatric patient presented with perception deafness.
    • Diagnostic imaging revealed an intrameatal arachnoid cyst.

    Findings:

    • The intrameatal arachnoid cyst was identified as the cause of the child's perception deafness.
    • This represents the second reported case in medical literature.

    Implications:

    • Highlights the importance of considering rare cystic lesions in the internal auditory canal for pediatric hearing loss.
    • Contributes to the limited understanding of intrameatal arachnoid cysts and their clinical manifestations.
