Summary

Chest CT can help guide fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) for diagnosing lung cancer by identifying endobronchial tumors. However, CT may miss some tumors, necessitating further research before altering current staging practices.

Background:

  • Fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) is a key tool for diagnosing and staging bronchogenic carcinoma (BC).
  • Its utility in diagnosing pulmonary nodules or masses (PNM) remains debated, especially when chest CT is available.
  • Chest CT may aid in selecting patients for preoperative FOB.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the role of chest CT in predicting FOB's diagnostic value for PNM.
  • To compare CT findings with bronchoscopy results in BC patients.
