Major neck surgeries under regional anesthesia

Summary

Regional anesthesia offers an effective alternative for major neck surgeries, providing excellent pain relief and faster recovery. This approach avoids the limitations associated with general anesthesia for procedures under four hours.

Background:

Major neck surgeries traditionally require general anesthesia, which has specific patient eligibility criteria and limitations.
Regional anesthesia presents a potential alternative, minimizing risks and improving patient outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of regional anesthesia for major neck surgeries.
To explore the advantages and limitations of regional anesthesia in this patient population.

A retrospective analysis of 50 major neck surgeries performed under regional anesthesia between March 1994 and March 1996.
Detailed review of patient selection, regional neural block techniques, and their effectiveness.
