    Chronic ureteral obstruction causes significant ureter dilation and tortuosity. This occurs due to ureteral creep, where tissue gradually deforms over time, increasing wall tension despite low intraluminal pressure.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the pressure-tension-deformation relationships in acute versus chronically obstructed ureters.
    • To elucidate the mechanism behind ureteral changes during chronic obstruction.

    • Rabbit ureters were obstructed in vivo.
    • Intraluminal pressure and ureteral deformation (diameter, length) were correlated over time.
