[Endopore: a new generation of implants]

The Endopore implant system has gained popularity since it was first commercialised. Developed at the University of Toronto, its unique design is characterized by a partial porous coating and a tapered, truncated-cone, endosseous root-form. These features allow for ease of placement, a faster healing period, the use of shorter implants, and greater resistance to torque (due to bone ingrowth in the porous coat). This article discusses the design and fabrication of the Endopore implant. The surgical procedure as well as the main advantages of this new type of implant are also considered.
