Can total urinary protein measurements predict microalbuminuria?

Routine total urinary protein tests can indicate microalbuminuria in diabetic patients, but none of the tested methods reliably predict its presence. The albumin and globulin separated method (A + G) offers the best negative predictive value, minimizing false negatives.
