Summary

Compression of the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm (LCNF) causes elbow pain. Surgical decompression effectively relieved pain and restored function in most patients, with no recurrence.

Background:

  • Compression of the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm (LCNF), a branch of the musculocutaneous nerve, can cause anterolateral elbow pain.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effectiveness of conservative and operative management for LCNF compression.
  • To assess long-term outcomes, including pain relief, sensory recovery, and range of motion.

  • A retrospective study of 15 patients diagnosed with LCNF compression between 1965 and 1992.
  • All patients initially received 12 weeks of conservative treatment.
  • Surgical decompression involved resecting the aponeurosis overlying the nerve for patients not responding to conservative care.
