  • A distally based lateral adipofascial flap was utilized in 13 cases.
  • Flap sizes ranged from 2.0 cm x 5.0 cm to 4.5 cm x 15.0 cm.
  • The flap was based on either the lowermost perforator or the anterior perforating branch of the peroneal artery.

Findings:

  • Successful resurfacing of lateral and medial lower leg soft tissue defects was achieved.
  • The technique avoided sacrifice of the main peroneal artery.
