Background:

Atrial myxomas are the most common primary cardiac tumors, typically benign.
Metastatic disease to the heart is rare and often associated with poor prognosis.
Accurate diagnosis of cardiac masses is crucial for appropriate patient management.

Observation:

A 69-year-old patient presented with a left atrial tumor diagnosed as myxoma.
Multiple distant metastases, initially presumed to be myxomatous, appeared over 22 months.
Autopsy revealed a primary pelvic chondrosarcoma as the source of myxoid metastases.

Findings:

The metastatic lesions mimicked atrial myxoma on clinical and pathological examination, including microscopy.
Light and electron microscopy of metastases were initially interpreted as myxomatous.
