Pregnancy following jejunoileal bypass. Effects on fetal outcome
Obstetrics and Gynecology
|October 1, 1976
Abstract:
Four cases of pregnancy following jejunoileal bypass surgery for obesity are presented, and 9 cases from the recent literature are reviewed. Pregnancy after bypass surgery often resulted in low-birthweight infants (46%) at term, and this was especially true when conception occurred within 2 years of the surgery. In light of these findings it may be advisable to postpone pregnancy until after the second postoperative year.
