[Abdominal and cremaster reflexes after trauma-induced brain death (author's transl)]

The case is reported of a 42-years-old man who was admitted to hospital with a head trauma following a fall and died 12 hours later. Although irreversible loss of cerebral function had been established neurologically, electoencephalographically, angiographically (carotid and vertebral angiography) and scintigraphically abdominal and cremaster reflexes could still be elicited. The neurophysiological conditions for the reappearance of these reflexes are discussed.
