Summary

Computed tomography (CT)-guided thoracic sympatholysis is an effective treatment for palmar hyperhidrosis, offering good results in 75% of patients. This minimally invasive procedure is recommended when other treatments fail and surgery is considered.

Background:

  • Palmar hyperhidrosis is a condition causing excessive sweating in the palms.
  • Medical treatments and iontophoresis are often unsuccessful for palmar hyperhidrosis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of computed tomography (CT)-guided thoracic sympatholysis for palmar hyperhidrosis.

Main Methods:

  • Sixteen patients with palmar hyperhidrosis underwent 29 CT-guided thoracic sympatholyses under local anesthesia.
  • Phenolization was performed at the T3 level after opacification with Iopamiron 200.

Main Results:

  • Immediate good results were achieved in 80% of procedures (23 cases).
  • At 20 months, 75% of patients (22 cases) showed sustained good results based on objective and subjective evaluations.
