Background:

Intraretinal foreign bodies pose a significant challenge in ophthalmic practice.
Prompt and effective removal is crucial to prevent vision loss.

Purpose of the Study:

To detail the surgical experience with removing intraretinal foreign bodies.
To evaluate the efficacy and outcomes of pars plana vitrectomy for this condition.

Main Methods:

Nine cases of intraretinal foreign body removal were analyzed.
Pars plana vitrectomy was the primary surgical technique employed.
Laser photocoagulation and specialized instruments (endomagnet, forceps) were utilized for extraction.

Main Results:

The average follow-up was 6.2 months.
Seven foreign bodies were magnetic, two were nonmagnetic.
Final visual acuity exceeded 5/50 in seven out of nine eyes.

Conclusions:

Pars plana vitrectomy is the recommended surgical method for intraretinal foreign body removal.
The technique demonstrated favorable visual outcomes in the majority of cases.
