Summary

A new syndrome, plasmocytoma associated cutaneous lymph node syndrome, is described, linking skin lesions to solitary bony plasmocytoma. Treatment of the plasmocytoma resolved the skin manifestations, suggesting a novel association.

Background:

  • Reports two male patients with slowly growing, erythematous thoracic lesions.
  • Lesions were initially undiagnosed via extensive work-up and biopsy.

Observation:

  • Both patients presented with erythematous, scleroderma-like plaques overlying solitary bony plasmocytomas.
  • Associated lymph node hyperplasia (peripheral and mediastinal) was noted.

Findings:

  • Plasmocytomas were diagnosed 2-4 years after initial cutaneous manifestations.
  • Treatment of the bony plasmocytomas resulted in complete resolution of the overlying skin lesions.

Implications:

  • Suggests a new clinical entity: plasmocytoma associated cutaneous lymph node syndrome.

  • Pathophysiology is unknown, but the syndrome appears to regress after plasmocytoma treatment.
