Assessing the child with disabilities

This paper discusses the assessment of the child between the ages of 2 and 12 years with physical disabilities. The acronym NGAGED is used to organize the assessment around a central concept: The degree to which the child engages in the world around him or her is an indicator of health. The components of the assessment--Now, Growth and development, Activities of daily living, General health, Environment, and Documentation are discussed in detail, and a sample assessment from is included.
