  • Existing literature associates IVC thrombosis with noninfectious diseases like renal or hepatic carcinoma, abdominal trauma, and IVC filter placement.

Observation:

  • A case of IVC thrombosis occurred in a young, nonpregnant patient.
  • The event followed laparoscopic pelvic surgery.

Findings:

  • This represents the first reported instance of IVC thrombosis directly linked to laparoscopic pelvic surgery.
  • Laparoscopic procedures may represent a novel risk factor for developing IVC thrombosis.

Implications:

  • This finding expands the known etiologies of IVC thrombosis.
