Plaque assay of rabies virus on porcine kidney cell monolayers
Journal of Clinical Microbiology
|August 1, 1976
Abstract:
The ERA strain of rabies virus was adapted to growth on monolayers of a porcine kidney cell line (PK-2A). A reproducible plaque assay system was subsequently developed, which appears to be satisfactory for conducting plaque neutralization tests.
Insights
Researchers adapted the ERA strain of rabies virus for cell culture. A reliable plaque assay was developed for rabies virus neutralization testing using this adapted strain.
Area of Science:
- Virology
- Cell Biology
Background:
- Rabies virus presents a significant public health challenge.
- Efficient cell culture systems are crucial for virological research and diagnostics.
Purpose of the Study:
