Total thyroidectomy for differentiated thyroid carcinoma: primary and secondary operations

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

• To evaluate the complication rate associated with total thyroidectomy for differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC).
• To compare the morbidity risks between primary total thyroidectomy and completion total thyroidectomy in DTC patients.
• To determine the safety and efficacy of total thyroidectomy as a treatment for DTC.

• Retrospective review of 106 consecutive patients treated with total thyroidectomy for DTC.
