Background:

  • Hypercalcemia is a known complication of some infections, but its association with brucellosis requires further elucidation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between serum calcium levels and human brucellosis.
  • To determine if brucellosis patients exhibit altered calcium homeostasis compared to controls.

  • A retrospective case-control study design was employed.
  • Serum calcium levels were analyzed in 58 human brucellosis cases and compared with matched controls.
  • Statistical analysis, including adjusted means and confidence intervals, was performed.
