[Strategies for the application of quality control in intensive care nursing]
1Medizinische Einrichtungen der Universität zu Köln.
Abstract:
The lack of transparency in nursing duties leads to a reduction in nursing staff, particularly among highly trained nurses who have an increased responsibility for patient care. A requirement for quality patient care in the future for intensive-care nurses is to increase transparency of the establishment and evaluation of indicators clearly documented in a catalogue of basic and process standards. Defining these standards in a framework of necessary and optional care allows for cost-benefit-analyses and, on the other hand, departmental reorganisation. This catalogue provides the best patient care because it is based on clearly established, comprehensive standards and on latest developments in medical and nursing research.
