Area of Science:

  • Pathology
  • Surgical Oncology
  • Head and Neck Surgery

Background:

  • Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common salivary gland neoplasm.
  • Typically found in major and minor salivary glands.
  • Extraglandular locations are rare but documented.

Observation:

  • Presents three distinct cases of pleomorphic adenoma.
  • Tumors were located in sites other than major salivary glands.
  • Detailed clinicopathological features of each case are described.

Findings:

  • Confirms the possibility of pleomorphic adenoma arising in extraglandular tissues.
  • Histopathological analysis confirmed the benign mixed tumor nature.
  • Demonstrates variability in presentation and location.

Implications:

  • Highlights the importance of considering extraglandular origins for suspected salivary tumors.
  • May influence diagnostic approaches and surgical planning.
  • Contributes to the understanding of salivary gland tumor behavior and distribution.
