    Summary

    The Bender Gestalt recall task showed significant associations with intellectual measures in vocational rehabilitation clients. However, it did not offer superior general intelligence classification compared to the WAIS Vocabulary subtest alone.

    Background:

    • The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is a common measure of cognitive ability.
    • The Bender Gestalt Test is frequently used to assess visual-motor integration and cognitive functioning.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the correlation between WAIS scores and Bender Gestalt recall performance.
    • To determine if Bender recall scores could accurately classify general intelligence levels.

    Main Methods:

    • Correlational analysis was performed between WAIS subtest standard scores, IQ scores, and factorial deviation quotients with Bender Gestalt recall scores.
    • The study included 111 vocational rehabilitation clients.

    Main Results:

    • Bender recall scores were significantly associated with intellectual measures, particularly nonverbal scores.
    • A stronger correlation was observed between Bender recall and Perceptual Organization DQs compared to Memory-Freedom from Distractibility DQs.
