Managing hypertensive urgencies in primary care
1Office of Science Education, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA.
Abstract:
Guidelines that assist clinicians in identifying and treating hypertensive urgencies are difficult to locate in the primary care literature. "Urgencies" must be clearly differentiated from "emergencies" before appropriate treatment measures can be activated. This article reviews clinical assessment, therapies, and follow up for optimum management of hypertensive urgencies seen in the primary care setting.
