Background:

Disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis (DPL) is a rare condition characterized by the presence of leiomyoma-like nodules within the peritoneal cavity.
It exclusively affects women, often those with a history of uterine leiomyomas (fibroids).

Observation:

DPL is frequently diagnosed incidentally during abdominal surgery or imaging for other conditions.
Symptoms are uncommon, but may include abdominal pain or distension in some cases.

Findings:

The peritoneal lesions are histologically benign and do not exhibit malignant potential.
A key characteristic of DPL is its tendency towards spontaneous regression over time.

Implications:

Given the benign nature and self-resolving course, conservative management is generally recommended.
Confirmation via biopsy is crucial for diagnosis, guiding treatment decisions towards minimal or no intervention.
