Summary

Chronic sinusitis in rabbits causes abnormal ciliary structure and function, impairing mucus clearance. Middle meatal antrostomy successfully restored normal ciliary beat frequency and ultrastructure, improving mucociliary transport.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between ciliary ultrastructure, ciliary beat frequency (CBF), and chronic sinusitis in a rabbit model.
  • To evaluate the effect of middle meatal antrostomy (MMA) on these parameters.
