Summary

Abnormal fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-18 FDG) uptake on PET scans can indicate benign conditions like tuberculosis, not just cancer. Clinicians should consider infectious causes when interpreting scans in cancer patients, especially in high-risk populations.
