Summary

Polyethylene glycol/electrolyte solution effectively treats fecal impaction. This oral therapy, administered over several hours, resolved or improved impaction in all 16 patients with minimal side effects.

  • An open-label study involving 16 patients with fecal impaction.
  • Patients received up to 1 liter of polyethylene glycol/electrolyte solution orally per day for 3 days, administered over 4-6 hours.
