Summary

Dysmorphophobia involves preoccupation with imagined appearance flaws, often leading patients to seek cosmetic surgery. This article addresses treatment for dysmorphophobia in ophthalmology, presenting three case reports.

Background:

Dysmorphophobia is a condition where individuals have an exaggerated preoccupation with perceived physical flaws.
These patients frequently pursue cosmetic surgical interventions to correct imagined or minor aesthetic defects.

Observation:

The ophthalmologic literature has not extensively covered the treatment of dysmorphophobia.
Three distinct case reports involving patients with dysmorphophobia are presented.

Findings:

The cases illustrate the challenges in managing patients with dysmorphophobia within an ophthalmic context.
Discussion of the syndrome of dysmorphophobia and its manifestation in patients seeking ophthalmic procedures.
